ISSA VIBE
I recently saw Solange perform this past Saturday at Broccoli City Festival.  One thing I can definitely say is, her performance is a vibe of self discovery and self empowerment.  Her show from music, choreography, to set design displayed an air of peacefulness. Seventies theme mixed with earthy  flare; monochromatic colors and organic, free flowing shapes that created the  backdrop of her stage.  The choreography exuded simplicity nonetheless still  an intricate thought process well executed by her dancers, background singers and band. Solange was well received the crowd rocked, swayed, and sang to the beat. It was intoxicating as well as sobering I’m so happy to be black moment.  Basking in my black girl magic singing “Don’t touch my hair” loud and proud, with another concert goer,  a woman of color standing next to me. We bonded in sisterhood through song , a journey of being black woman bridging the gap.

EMBRACE YOURSELF UNAPOLOGETICALLY
Solange let us know it’s okay to be mad about some stuff, it’s okay to be upset, it’s okay to be a work in progress.  Wherever you are embrace yourself walk tall and confidentially in your melanated skin. Dress how you want. As cliché as it is, dance like nobody’s watching. As she danced around on stage you could just look at her and see she was being exactly who she wanted to be.  She wasn’t trying to be anyone else but herself and it was mesmerizing. Be you, unapologetically.

REALIZATION OF TRUE POTENTIAL/PURPOSE
Have you ever just sat and wondered sometimes what your purpose is? As I watched Solange perform Rise, it really hit me that this is all a journey.  Every step, every time you get turned around, every mistake you make is leading you toward that moment when you’ll rise.  Seeing her perform was a reminder that I am exactly where I need to be and I’m fulfilling my purpose in each moment. “walk in your ways so you won’t crumble, walk in your ways so you can sleep at night, walk in your ways so you will wake up and rise”-Solange

BLACK GIRL MAGIC
Well of course she was drenched in black girl magic from head to toe.  Her curls hung free and she sang with a confidence that caused a visceral reaction from the crowd. She had fun with each song, T.O.N.Y, Weary, and Don’t Wish Me Well .Each making  a statement without being uncomfortable or preachy.  To see and hear performing songs written, produced, and a stage show choreographed by he, it was an inspiration.   If she can do this extraordinary thing, why not me? Why not you?

IT WILL BE EVERYTHING YOU EXPECT AND MORE
Energy never wavering, Solange gave us 100 percent. I was truly amazed by her stamina.  It was during her performance of For Us, By Us that I realized she is a real one.  Solange engaged the audience , coming into the festival crowd and not just in the front, deep into the crowd toward the middle and back.  The concert was unforgettable. We all had a seat at the table that night.  I recommend you definitely put this on your bucket list because this is “one for us”
